Our Mission & Vision

We invite you to join in the tradition

as well as in what lies ahead by...

"Building the Future for Our Youth."

The Dunbar Community Center with almost 95 years' experience serving those who are traditionally ignored, denied access and oppressed, has stepped proudly into this next millennium; confident, comfortable, committed and convinced that we serve populations who need us most, those who might otherwise remain underserved and unappreciated. Though we feel the usual aches and pains that accompany old age, it feels good to be 95 years old. We have the wisdom and confidence that come with having endured and overcome the ups and downs of life and business. We can be sure that with vision, long range planning and strategic alliances, this agency is stronger and more viable than ever before in its ability to sustain adversity and to nurture, educate and empower tomorrow's leaders and workforce.

The Dunbar Community Center is much more than bricks and mortar. Our spirits and aspirations are not limited by the 100+ years old building that we currently use, or by the $4,500,000 vision that has become our reality. This agency is a community builder. It stands on belief in a higher being, equality for all people, respect for the dignity of others, compassion, conviction, dedication, determination, perseverance, and love for human kind, particularly forgotten, neglected, and disenfranchised children. As we move into the 21st century and our new expanded, handicap accessible facility, we vow to remain humble in spirit and proud in practice, serving those who need us most. Please join us as we continue to "build the future for our youth."
